“At 5′ 7″ and pushing 240 lbs., I was on blood pressure, cholesterol and diabetes medication. I tried to lose weight on my own, but gained weight instead. Erin personalized a plan according to my needs, work schedule and health issues. Erin encouraged me and taught me how to make better food choices, understand food labels and portion control. I’ve been on her plan for 6 months and, with a few extra miles of walking my dog each day, I’ve gone from 238 lbs. to 190 lbs. I’m coming off my blood pressure and diabetes medicine, too. I feel great!!
“I just wanted to take a moment to let you know how much you have helped me in improving my health as far as weight loss and the lowering of my blood panels. I have been fighting being overweight most of my life. You have helped me to improve my overall health and the quality of my life. I will always struggle with my weight but you have given me the tools and skills to make the correct meal planning decisions going forward. I will definitely continue to meet with you for your guidance moving forward. When I started my journey I was at 246 lbs, as of our last weigh in I’m at 217. I can feel the transformation not only mentally but physically. My joints no longer ache. I truly owe you a giant debt of gratitude!”
“As a marathon runner, I experienced many ups and downs in my weight. I had relentless hunger and I was confused about how to properly fuel my long runs. I knew there had to be a better way to improve my speed and endurance through nutrition. I didn’t know how to get the right amount of protein, or even what was the right amount of protein. Every afternoon, for as long as I can remember, I have struggled with the feeling of complete starvation, which would lead to poor choices and huge amounts of snacks before dinner. In my eyes, and the eyes of those around me, I have always been a healthy eater, but I knew I had room to improve and I could not do it on my own. I had such a negative relationship with food, one day I’d be very restrictive, the next I’d eat anything I could get my hands on. I needed this cycle to end. So, I went to Erin for help on my very specific concerns, my many food sensitivities, how to eat the right foods to fuel my runs and how to avoid my 3pm crash and food binge.
Erin was easy to get in touch with and very personable. We had a phone conversation in which I explained my health issues, food sensitivities and my running goals. Erin is such a positive person and so easy to talk to, I felt comfortable enough to confess many of my habits that are a little embarrassing. I detailed a brutally honest food journal that she carefully reviewed. She was able to explain to me reasons why I did those things and made me feel at ease about it. She was so knowledgeable, and if she didn’t have an answer, she searched until she did. She explained the basics of nutrition in such a clear way, that I truly felt armed and ready to tackle food labels and make a change.
Erin taught me so much more than I could’ve imagined, words cannot express all the positive changes that have taken place. I conquered those 3pm binges and I learned the right amount of carbs, proteins and fats to fit my personal needs. Now I am armed with a variety of foods that work around my long list of food sensitivities. One of the most unexpected changes was my negative relationship with food. I thought that was something I just had to cope with. But now, I no longer see food as good or bad. I see it as fuel for my daily life, and running. If I stray a little off my plan, it is nowhere near the crash I used to have and I never feel like “I’ve already messed up, I might as well keep eating bad”. I do not have that guilt that I used to have when I did stray from eating healthy. I feel strong when running and I see strength when I look in the mirror. My journey has not been about weight loss, it has been about improving my relationship with food. I am amazed at how far I have come. I intend to keep marching ahead to a lifetime of health, long runs and a positive relationship with food!”
